Smartphones at this point are basically little computers that you carry with you and are easily accessible by just reaching to your pocket. Over the years, the phones have gotten faster and faster, the cameras are now better than ever and we almost can’t see any bezels on the sides of the device, fitting more content space in a smaller body.
After seeing fingerprint sensors, face recognition, amazing cameras with professional effects and even a fingerprint sensor under the screen, we thought that we wouldn’t see any new crazy innovation in the smartphone industry, so the foldable phones came.

But wait a second.. Why exactly do we need a foldable phone? Can’t our phones already fit in our pockets? Oh, is it too big? Why not buy a smaller one (where are the small phones, companies?)? So the real benefit of it folding is to add an extra step before you can use your phone, right? Because you’re going to take it out of your pocket and instead of using it right away, you have to take your time to unfold it before you can use anything, isn’t it? Err, this doesn’t feel right
The technology is interesting, maybe it’ll be useful someday when it has improved more in the direction of the Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X, where you have an ‘outside screen’ that you can start using as soon as you take it out of your pocket, because, after all, we want a technology that simplifies our lives, not introduces a new problem, right?
